We are often asked what “title page personalization” means on our order form.

The first page of each of our custom leather journals is what we consider a “title page”. In our standard custom leather journals, the title page looks like this:

(Please note, this is a low resolution image and may look a little blurry due to the low resolution)

The top lines on the title page say (in smaller lettering) “This Legacy Journal was custom created for”

The center text (shown in red on the above image for easy reference. In our custom leather journals, it is the same color as the rest of the text on the page) is where your Title Page Personalization will appear.

The bottom text (again in smaller lettering) says “Created on” and gives the date the custom leather journal was created (noted in red text, but, is the same color as the rest of the text on a standard, printed title page in your custom leather journal).

Our special interest custom leather journals have a slightly different title page. Each special interest journal’s title page is a little different from the rest (depending on the special interest chosen). In general, they are formatted like this:

As you can see from the above (low resolution) image, the title page personalization (the recipient’s name) is positioned in the bottom area of the page. The “standard” bottom text says “Custom Created for” on the first line, the second line is the recipient’s name (or the title page personalization you give us), and the third line is the date the specialty custom leather journal was created.

We are often asked what the difference is between monogram personalization and standard personalization. The best way to answer that question is to *show* you while we explain it.

Monogram personalization: Monogram personalization consists of 3 interlocking letters - with the center (2nd) letter being larger than the other two letters. When we receive an order requesting monogram personalization, the letters should be arranged as follows:

First letter = first name initial

Second letter = last name initial

Third letter = Middle name initial

As an example, our lead artist, Dee A. Phipps, would enter her monogram personalization as: DPA

That would result in a monogram (monograms vary slightly depending on the lettering style chosen and the letters involved) like this:

Using the same name as an example….if you selected standard personalization, and chose to simply put the initials on the cover they would be entered: DAP (or D. A. P., if you wanted to use the periods after each letter). So, the initials would be entered as:

First Letter: First name initial

Second Letter: Middle name initial

Third Letter: Last name initial

The standard personalization (using the same name & lettering style for your comparison) would look something like this:

In summary….

Monogram personalization is 3 interlocking letters arranged in the first initial, last initial, middle initial configuration (make sure to enter the letters in the correct order! We will use the center letter you entered as the center/larger letter in the monogram).

Standard personalization can be initials, but does not need to be. They are not interlocking letters. As with the monogram personalization, we personalize the item with the personalization as you enter it on the order form.

Hair on hides, as the name implies, are animal hides which have not been de-haired….relying on the natural beauty of the natural pattern of various hides to make a profound and unique statement.

We have 7 different hide styles/patterns available at this time - from our designer signature cow hides in exotic patterns such as zebra, leopard, tiger, and acid wash zebra…to more traditional signature cow hides in black and white, brown and white, or brindle patterns. To make it even more interesting, we have also chosen two acid wash “colored” hair on calfskins (pink and turquoise), and a sprinkbok (African gazelle) hides.

These signature hair on hides will be standard on our new signature series custom leather products, but, may also be used on any of our products for an additional charge.

As always, we will still be able to personalize and customize every product that we offer in the signature series - the difference being the personalization and customization on our signature series exotic custom leather products is on the interior instead of the exterior of the product.

To see the full range of our new signature series exotic hair on hides….visit our signature series exotic hair on hide album in our design gallery.

Better than a generic gift card you buy in most stores, our pre gift cards are designed to show the recipient that you cared enough to thoughtfully order a custom made item for him or her. Each gift announcement card is packaged in a gold deckle edged envelope (left blank for you to fill out, if you choose). The exterior of the card, itself, has one gold deckle edge and reads “A special gift for you” in an elegant font.

Our gift announcement cards are very well received by whomever you give them to. Proclaiming the fact that you thought enough about the recipient to custom order a gift for him or her, this is a fantastic alternative if you didn’t order soon enough but don’t want to get the usual “I-forgot-until-it-was-too-late” gifts.

Gift Announcement cards are an additional $5.25 for priority mail shipping prior to December 18 (within continential U.S.). From December 19 through December 24, we offer email shipping of pre gift cards and will send you an attachment with a high resolution image of both the interior and exterior of the card, which you can print on your printer and give to the recipient.

The pen was just right too! The timing of the package was great. It arrived yesterday (Friday), and Pastor and his family were coming over for dinner, so it was just perfect.

Thanks again,

Nothing could have prepared me for the beauty of this binder. After seeing your merchandise in person, there is not one picture on your website that captures how exceptionally gorgeous your journals are. It is like trying to explain the Grand Canyon, some things you just have to see. Even the excellent photos you sent me of the piece before it arrived didn’t capture it true essence.

At first, I was quite hesitant about paying that much for a binder but this is much more than a binder it is a magnificent piece of art. There are no words that can explain how unique it is. The richness of the unusual green color, the craftsmanship, the durability, the design, the quality and texture of the leather, the gift wrapping, the cards, and the silver clip. It exceeded my expectations, standards and imagination and I am pretty vivid in all those areas.

I could go on and on and on but I will end by saying it is a treasure that I will have for many years to come and “like fine wine, it will only get better with time.” Pieces like this, are why that ole adage was created.

Thank you,

Legacy Journals was contacted in June by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. to provide a very special custom leather [guest] book for one of the programs at the 42nd Annual Folklife Festival on the National Mall.

The custom leather book was fairly straightforward - it was an xx-large custom leather book in burgundy color with the Smithsonian Institution’s logo customization on the cover and extra pages to accomodate the thoughts and sentiments of the many visitors to the “Bhutan: Land of the Thunder Dragon” program during this year’s Smithsonian Folklife Festival.

After its use during the festival, the book was taken to Bhutan and its new owner - Fifth Druk Gyalpo His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wanghuck (King of Bhutan) - carrying the sentiments, well wishes, and observations of the visitors to the Bhutan program at the festival.

Ms. Dee Phipps, our lead artist, attended the opening ceremony for the festival, and presented the book for the Smithsonian to His Majesty, the King’s, younger brother, His Royal Highness Prince Jigyel Ugyen Wangchuck, Prince of Bhutan.

To read more about this auspicious event (and see more pictures), please see our narrative on our corporate website: Lead Artist presents Custom Leather Book for Smithsonian.
