The idea for this custom leather family recipe book started in 2007 when our family got together and the discussion eventually lead to the “lost” recipes in the family. My mom explained that they used to just pass recipes down from mother to daughter – no recipes needed written down, they were just taught. A little of this and a pinch of that.

In an effort to “save” the recipes that haven’t yet been lost, we set about creating 4″ x 6″ recipe cards of all the family recipes that we enjoyed – old and new. Then, to protect those recipe cards, we added protective sleeves/sheet protectors for each recipe card to fit in snugly – so that the recipe wouldn’t be lost (and important parts hidden by splatters of this or splashes of that on the card!). Those sleeves were post bound to provide easy access AND the important ability to rearrange the cards, add new sleeves, etc.
